Chopin’s Piano Found
After laborious studies, it has been confirmed that the Pleyel piano located in Hatchlands in British county of Surrey is this very instrument on which Frederic Chopin gave his concerts almost 160 years ago. There are a few Pleyel pianos from that time (one of them on our photo), but it remained unknown which of them was the one on which the great Polish composer performed in person. That is why this finding is so important. In 1848, Chopin arrived in London with his own piano, which he had been using for two years only, but he loved it for its soft tones and because he had chosen it himself. This is this very piano that later got to Hatchlands, which has just been confirmed by experts. On this piano Chopin gave concerts to, for instance, Queen Victoria. The owner of Hachlands, the National Trust organization which takes care about the national heritage of the British Isles, has announced that concerts of Chopin’s music will be organized in Surrey on this piano.
Posters in Wilanów
The Thirteenth Salon of Polish Poster (Trzynasty Salon Plakatu Polskiego) will be presented in the Museum of Poster (Muzeum Plakatu) in Wilanów until September, 30. The event is organized in turns with the International Biennial Exhibition of Posters, and the difference is that the Salon presents Polish posters exclusively, and they are not selected by any jury. This makes the exhibition a review of various graphic techniques, and a colorful calendar of cultural, political and social events of the last two years.
