The Largest Guitar in Poland
Warsaw Hard Rock Cafe has acquired the largest luminous guitar in Poland. It is ten meters tall and can be seen from a distance. The guitar is reconstructed in detail, and some say it reminds of a sculpture. Hard Rock Cafe's guitar may become one of the symbols of our city. The Hard Rock Cafe network is famous all over the world for the largest collection of rock mementoes, which are exhibited in its restaurants located in different parts of the globe. The idea was born when Eric Clapton left his guitar in one of the cafes. Then other artists started leaving mementoes and gadgets, and in this way the collection was established.

Consulted with Rabbis
The building to be constructed adjacent to the only preserved synagogue in Warsaw (others were destroyed by Germans during the Second World War) will be 207 meters high. The building will be constructed on the initiative of the U Gmin Wyznaniowych Żydowskich), and is believed to be unique. It is to house offices and a hotel, adjusted to the needs of orthodox Jews. Moreover, it is to have a synagogue and a kosher restaurant. The project, which has been consulted on with rabbis, is to reflect the respect for tradition and, at the same time, meet ultramodern requirements. The construction is to be energy self-efficient. That is why there will be four huge holes in the elevation to suck in the air. The information on this investment has already spread all around the world. In the vicinity of the building, the Hines company is planning to construct a towering block of luxury apartments.

Museum in the Center of the District of Praga
Praga, an old district of Warsaw located on the right bank of the Vistula River, is to have its first historical museum, dedicated to its history only. Therefore, the authorities of the district addressed the inhabitants with a request to send in mementoes and interesting exhibits, if they have any and are willing to contribute to the museum's collection. The seat of the museum will be situated in three, 19-century tenement houses at the main street of Praga, Targowa Street. One of the annexes of these houses has fragments of paintings of a Jewish gospel hall, which has been recently discovered. It is planned to construct a building in the background, where a restaurant, an education hall and an information center would be located. The construction of the museum is to start as soon as in the first quarter of the year.

Tourists Started to Love Poland
Foreign tourists enjoy visiting our country more and more. It was attested to by the Country Brand Index ranking, announced at the end of last year, in which Poland took the eighth position in the category of emerging stars of the world tourism. The good opinion on Poland should be attributed to large cities, namely Warsaw, which attracts businesspeople, Cracow, which has been experiencing a true descent of tourists in recent years, Wroclaw, which has been promoting itself all around the world, Gdansk, with the legend of the Solidarność movement and Lech Wałęsa, and Zakopane, which is greatly popular with Russians. This year, according to the forecasts by Country Brand Index, the interest in our country is to grow even further.

In Poland, in two places, we will be able to buy tickets for the greatest cultural and sports shows in the world. The first is Warsaw Bajka Theater (Teatr Bajka), and the other - the Center of Culture in Katowice. Ticketmaster, an American portal, and Slovak Ticketportal, which has just opened its shops in Poland, have recently signed a cooperation agreement. The prices of tickets will not be higher than those of the organizers of events in London, New York or Hollywood. Now, you can already book tickets free of charge. For example, a ticket for a match of Los Angeles Lakers costs PLN 75, for a performance of cult Buena Vista Social Club in London - from PLN 90, for a concert of Ozzy Ozbourne in Portland - from PLN 250, and for the famous Lion King musical in New York - from PLN 160.

The Most Beautiful Mermaid Every Year?
The authorities of Warsaw want to introduce a new tradition to the history of our city. It is an annual contest for the most beautiful mermaid (a woman who lives in Warsaw) of the year. The contest would be organized on Saint John's Night, that is June 23. It would be, at the same time, a holiday of the city, with Midsummer Night's Eve custom of throwing garlands of flowers into the water, which is a tradition known for many centuries. The candidates for the most beautiful mermaid have to come from Warsaw, have nice breasts (the mermaid is topless) and be able to swim. I would like our mermaid to become as famous as the one from Copenhagen. 'According to the legend, they are sisters,' says Katarzyna Ratajczyk, the director of the Warsaw Promotion Office.

Minaret of Friendship
A 17-meter high minaret, topped with an Islamic crescent, is to be constructed in the park at the back of the Warsaw Stock Exchange building. The minaret is to be a monument to Polish - Turkish friendship. There was a minaret there for 150 years, and it constituted a part of the garden. The inhabitants of Warsaw called in the Turkish tower, but it had no religious functions. It had winding stairs leading to its top, with three balls and an Islamic crescent. The minaret dominated the landscape of the district of Powiśle until the Second World War, when it was destroyed by the Germans. The communist authorities after the war ordered to demolish the remains. The idea of the reconstruction of the minaret was welcomed with enthusiasm by the Embassy of Turkey, which never accepted the partitions of Poland by Russia, Prussia and Austria.
