The Stryków district is a place with opportunities and prospects which is open to economic enterprise. In 2009, the Stryków district was among the three best developing districts, in terms of investment areas in Poland, and received a „Gmina Przyjazna Inwestorom” (Investor-Friendly District) certificate. Without a doubt, the geographic location of the district is a distinguishing feature of Stryków; it lies within the Łódzkie Voivodeship, in the Zgierski administrative district. A strategic advantage of the district is the fact that transport interchanges to two central European highways – A1 (Gdańsk – Vienna) and A2 (Berlin – Moscow) are located within its borders. These junctions are of international significance. In addition, the Łódź – Łowicz railway line runs through the district, and there is also a sidetrack for loading freight trains. The close proximity of the location to the airports in Łódź (25 km) and Warsaw (110 km) also encourages investment. There are also plans to expand route 14 (Łódź – Warsaw) and voivodeship road number 708 (Brzeziny – Stryków – Ozorków), and to build the Stryków northern ring road. All of these projects ensure that the Stryków district will have the best transport routes in Poland.
The Stryków district has taken advantage of its excellent location in its new urban development plan, and has set aside 850 hectares of land for investment. Part of the area being offered for investment has already been fitted with utilities, including water, sewage, electricity and gas. At present, more than 330 hectares are already occupied by international-scale companies, like Sandoz Polska Sp. z o.o., Spedimex Sp. z o.o., Jasper Sp. z o.o., Dachser Sp. z o.o., Raben Polska Sp. z o.o., GLS Poland Sp. z o.o., Hotel 500, Hermann Kirchner Polska Sp. z o.o., Lidl Polska, Corning Cable System Polska Sp. z o.o., Ogólnopolski System Dystrybucji i Wydawnictw „AZYMUT”, and also Komfort-Market Sp. z o.o., Leroy Merlin Polska Sp. z o.o., COMPLEX S.A. and many others. These companies have created about 2,500 jobs.
There are three industrial parks in the district: Tulipan Park Stryków, Diamond Business Park Stryków and Panattoni Park Stryków; there is also a special economic zone (Łódzka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna). The largest factory in Eastern Europe manufacturing corrugated cardboard has been built by Prowell. Raben Polska has undertaken a subsequent investment in Stryków (its third) – the construction of a new distribution warehouse, with a projected capacity of more than 40,000m2. The total area of the company’s warehouses will reach nearly 70 000m2 with this expansion.
Attractive areas for active recreation also await potential investors. Those who enjoy horseback riding can take advantage of riding stables with a covered riding arena and horse corral. The only motocross track in the region is also located in this district, and it is the site of the annual Polish Motocross Championships. There is a full-sized, 18-hole golf course. There is also a newly-built playing field complex in Bratoszewice, one of the nicest facilities in the country, built as part of the „Moje Boisko-Orlik 2012” program. As well, companies can use training facilities which are equipped with modern conference infrastructure and include accommodation.
Its location in the Łódź Hills Landscape Park (Park Krajobrazowy Wzniesień Łódzkich) also allows for contact with nature and for cycling trips. The historic Roman Catholic and Mariavite churches, the historic park with the palace of the Rzewuski counts, the wartime cemetery from the First and Second World Wars, and five city parks with valuable species of trees and shrubs are all worth seeing.
